LYRICISM AND MUSICALITY

Being moved is the fundamental human trait, above all others. Not even reasoning, the ability to reason, seem so important to me. But it's essential to fill ourselves with beautiful emotions, emotions that excite us, that are an invitation to open up and live. It will never always be like this, but may it often be like I say.

I'll explain how I write poems. It doesn't mean it's something special or productive, and I don't mean my way is better or worse, or that it's valid for everyone. It's simply mine, and perhaps it will be useful for you to find your own path.

Writing poetry is like climbing into the attic of my memories and essences. There is everything I am and have been, and there is everything I have experienced. Climbing into the attic is getting closer to the innermost part of my being. Sometimes I come across beautiful and endearing things, but other times I stir up painful images. However, in that attic I am happy because it helps me recover the human being I truly am after stripping away routines, commitments, commonplaces and artificial thoughts.

In that attic, my true self emerges, and as if the soul had pores, like skin, emotions and more emotions emerge. I would tell you that, despite the hardships I've experienced, the child I also carry inside takes center stage, filling me with the most beautiful emotions, the most heartfelt hopes, the noblest desires. And as passionate as I am about the most loving feelings, impulses arise that I try to transform into words. This is the point that's most difficult for me, because I find it hard to put the emotions that overwhelm me into words. Furthermore, I always look for two things: lyricism and musicality.

Sometimes it comes out a little better, but often it doesn't turn out well, or I'm not happy with what comes out, because I feel like what I've written doesn't reflect the intensity and beauty of what I feel. But I don't get discouraged, because I know that with practice, everything can improve. Don't get discouraged!!!
